Before you ask the question “how are you?,” ask yourself if you are asking it with conviction, genuine curiosity, and care. While stated with the greatest of intentions the depth of the question hits everyone differently. For some excitement or happiness, for others it can emphasize stress to already stressful situations. We’ve culturally normalized an engagement that contradicts its own purpose.

When people hear information they’re likely to only remember 10% of what they heard three days later, but if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people will retain 65% of that information over those next three days.
