If you travel frequently, it’s a smart move to get a rewards card that specializes in travel rewards. Depending on the card, you can use it for points or paying travel expenses. These travel rewards add up, often getting you further for your next vacation and allowing you to choose a more opulent destination or accommodations. Not bad for just using your card.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card:

This is the card to get for bonus travel rewards. You get great value and flexibility, plus the annual fee, which is waived the first year, isn’t outlandish. For every $1 you spend on dining or travel, you get 2 points (1 point per $1 on all other items). There’s a nice sign-on bonus for you too. Simply spend $4,000 on purchases in your first 3 months with this card and you’ll earn 50,000 bonus points. On the downside, you don’t get free checked bags or priority boarding like you would with airline-specific or co-branded cards, but the flexibility is hard to beat.

Barclaycard Arrival Plus Credit Card:

Hate keeping track of things? This card has one of the most easy-to-use travel rewards programs. It earns you an unlimited 2 miles per every dollar spent on all purchases. Book your travel and use the miles to pay for it, simple as that. For redeeming miles, you get 5% of them back as an added bonus. Plus, sign up and get 70,000 bonus miles when you spend $5,000 in your first 90 days.

For the first year, you get 0% intro APR too. International travelers should absolutely get this card because it has chip-and-PIN functionality, something that gives you access no matter where you are in the world. Unlike other cards, the annual fee isn’t waived the first year and the minimum amount to redeem is 10,000 points, both downsides for sure, but the other perks make it worthy, especially for those frequently heading abroad.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
:

Each dollar you spend nets you 2 miles and there’s no restriction as to what you can spend it on. Going on now through January 2020, this card will give you 10 miles per dollar when you use it at Hotels.com. There are no restrictions for which airline or hotel you must use either or minimum amount to redeem. For those that are brand loyal though to certain airlines or hotel brands, you may find that going with that brand is a better fit, but if you regularly book through Hotels.com, this is a winner.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card:

Want the ultimate travel card? This one gives you 3 points for every $1 you spend on travel and dining (1 point for spending on anything else). It also gives you $300 per year in credit for your travel expenses. Plus, 50,000 bonus points are yours when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months after opening your account. There are no foreign transaction fees, ideal for international travelers. The annual fee is $450 though, which is a big commitment but worth it if you’re always traveling.

Wells Fargo Wells Fargo Propel American Express Credit Card:

Want more rewards with no annual fee? Try this card on for size. You get 3 points per $1 you spend on travel, dining, gas stations, and even streaming services while other categories earn you 1 point per $1. New cardholders get a bonus of 30,000 points for spending $3,000 in the first 3 months, plus 0% intro APR. Some redemptions do have limitations though, for example you can only get them by making a booking through Wells Fargo and the points can’t be used to remove your travel purchases as you can with other cards.
